Changes

A new year calls for changes and a general cleaning up. Things on amanobooks.com will be changing a bit soon. Some of the changes have already been put in place. Ribbon and stab bound journals have been moved to clearance. Make sure to get one while you can because once these are gone, they will be gone! Just making room for new books.

A new section called Natural Elements has also been added to the blank journal categories.

These changes reflect a new focus for myself and for amanobooks.com. 2006 will see more mixed media collage journals and journals that hold my love for nature's gifts.

Inventory on amanobooks.com is a little sparse at the moment, but don't fret! I am working steadily to fill up the gaps that the holiday orders created.

Journaling tips
Beginning a new journal

Starting a new year is kind of like starting a new journal. The unknown awaiting you. A big blank canvas in front of you. Empty white pages waiting to be filled. Taking that pen, pencil or brush to the first page is always a bit intimidating.

"To begin is the thing. Begin anywhere, anyhow." ~Henry Miller

Here are some suggestions:
:: Paste in a photo or an image that reflects your mood. Just filling up that white space makes it easier to start writing. Write about your intention for that particular journal. Will this journal be used for recording dreams, daily journaling, random notes, a visual diary?

:: Copy down a favorite quote and reflect on what it means to you.

:: If you are a visual type- Doodle! Stamp! Color the first page with crayon, water color, ink. Play!

:: Just start writing...

"Every morning is a fresh beginning. Every day is the world made new. Today is a new day. Today is my world made new. I have lived all my life up to this moment, to come to this day. This moment--this day- -is as good as any moment in all eternity. I shall make of this day--each moment of this day--a heaven on earth. This is my day of opportunity." ~Dan Custer

New Cards
Nature's Impressions Blank Cards

A new collection of blank cards are now available! Nature's Impressions are reproductions from monotype prints that I made using items I found in the garden. You can see the original monotype prints here

In the fast paced technology age that we live in, letter writing seems to be a thing of the past. I, for one, love to see a hand written envelope with my name on it waiting in my mailbox. There's just something special about someone taking the time to take pen to paper and sending a little something of themselves to you in the mail. These cards are great for writing notes to a friend or loved one because they are also little works of art. Art in the mail!
