Glossary of terms - amanobooks.com

Case bound: Also referred to as codex, hard bound, this type of binding is what one usually thinks of as a typical book. The pages are sewn together at the spine and then attached to a hard cover that includes a front, a spine, and a back.

Coptic bound: A sewing technique that joins the cover boards to the signatures. The result is an attractive and interesting exposed spine. Coptic binding makes the pages lie flat, for easy writing.

Stab bound: A Japanese style of binding in which holes are punched along the edge and then bound with ribbon or thread. This decorative binding adds a special touch of elegance.
